How We Got Here

Our Story


Floorplan Xpress has been built from the ground up by people who understand independent dealers, because that's exactly who we set out to serve.

Where It Started
Our story begins in 1974 in Kansas City, Missouri, where Great American Acceptance Company was founded as a floor plan financing provider. Over the years, the business changed hands, and the people behind it relocated to Oklahoma, bringing with them a deep understanding of what independent dealers actually need from a financing partner.

It was in Oklahoma where the foundation for what would become Floorplan Xpress was laid.

A New Chapter in 2006
In 2006, the current ownership team acquired Floorplan Xpress with a clear vision: to build a floor plan company that serves a specific kind of dealer. Not every dealer. Not the biggest dealer. The owner-operator, the independent used car dealer who is hands on in their business, invests in their customers, and is looking for a financing partner who actually shows up.

That focus hasn't changed. We know we're not the right fit for everyone, and we're okay with that. But for the dealers we serve, we believe what we offer is worth every dollar, and we back it up with the kind of service that's hard to find anywhere else.

Growing the Network
With a clear mission in place, FX began to grow deliberately.

In 2007, a second branch opened in the Denver market, bringing FX's model to the Rocky Mountain region and planting the flag for what would become a national expansion.

In 2009, Floorplan Xpress acquired Great American Acceptance Company in Kansas City, completing a full-circle moment in the company's history. The acquisition also included a branch in Omaha, Nebraska, further expanding FX's footprint in the Midwest.

Expanding Across the Country
From here, FX accelerated its growth. The next stop was Texas, starting in Austin and San Antonio, followed by a rapid expansion of branches across the country over the next several years.

Today, Floorplan Xpress serves dealers coast to coast, from Washington to Florida. What started as a single operation in Kansas City is now a national floor plan financing company, still run with the same owner-operator mindset that has defined FX from the beginning.

We are not a bank. We are not a large institution with layers of bureaucracy between you and a decision. We are a team of people who believe in independent dealers, who built our own technology to serve them better, and who show up every day to make floor plan financing work the way it should.
